Course Leader 
Following a successful career in teaching, where she gained extensive senior and middle leadership and management experience in schools in the SW of England, Suzanne Templeton became a freelance educational consultant in 2003.  As a tutor and consultant, Suzanne has a very wide portfolio of expertise. She works as a trainer/consultant in primary, secondary and Post-16 colleges in both the state and independent sector all over the UK, and with international schools in Europe and the Middle East.  
As well as delivering one-day training courses for a number of the leading independent CPD providers, she also runs In-house training days on a whole-school basis, with numbers up to 100s of staff, or to groups of staff on aspects of the 
curriculum or leadership. 

Her training and consultancy portfolio includes leadership and management at all levels, Learning & Teaching, including classroom observation and feedback, Geography, where she is a Moderator for a leading Examination Board, Humanities, Citizenship, PSHE – Personal Social and Health Education and LSAs. She is currently working with OfSTED training on the new OfSTED Framework. Within the area of Geography and Humanities/Citizenship, she continues to work in many parts of the country supporting both Senior Leadership Teams,  
 
Department Heads and teachers in schools and colleges with developments in the curriculum, and with the continual drive to improve results. A particular 
aspect of her work is in working with schools;and staff over a period of time, to develop and support them.



Synopsis
The course is designed to extensively review teaching and learning strategies to support pupils in the mainstream classroom. The course is designed to offer practical strategies that LSAs use to support effectively inclusive lessons. The course focuses on tried and tested techniques of practising LSAs. 

The course will provide top tips and practical teaching strategies to help the LSA support pupils in inclusive classrooms and help them to be taught in ways that take account of their varied needs. The course will help develop the skills of the LSA to help pupils access learning at an appropriate level. The course is designed to help the LSA have the necessary skills to teach effectively and plan for successful inclusion.


Workshop Aims

The aims of the workshop are to:
  • To review the benefits of supporting the varied needs of pupils to help them have success and achievement in the mainstream classroom 
  • To review a range of teaching and learning strategies to support inclusion 
  • To share good classroom practice 
  • To identify special educational needs and ways to help the pupils access learning

  • Principles at the heart of inclusion for the LSA 
Session 2: Increasing participation of learners in the curriculum/ responding to pupils’ diverse special educational needs
  • Teaching strategies for the LSA that make a difference 
  • Top tips to address the learning needs of pupils with special educational needs 
  • Teaching strategies for the LSA to promote inclusion 
Session 3: Overcoming the potential barriers to learning – the role of the LSA
  • How to give highly effective support in lessons 
  • Personalised learning to encourage inclusive practice 
Session 4: The challenge of inclusion for the LSA
  • Expanding the concept of inclusion 
  • You can really make a difference as a LSA 

Evaluation and close of INSET


Workshop Fee
