About the Workshop
To be judged outstanding is the ultimate confirmation for teachers of their skills, knowledge and expertise. Yet this accolade can seem to be elusive. This workshop aims to deconstruct the concept of outstanding and examine its component parts, and to help teachers plan a route towards achieving outstanding status.

Workshop Aims:
  • To consider the characteristics of outstanding teaching and learning.
  • To examine the elements which make up an outstanding lesson.
  • To explore some activities which develop higher order skills in learners.
  • To examine how to establish a baseline of current practice and identify areas for development.
  • To give a reasoned critique of a lesson and consider how to give developmental feedback to a colleague.
